　　《地球生灵》9月1日在日本公映，根据MOJO的票房数据，一共上映310块屏幕，截至9月4日四天时间收获454万美元票房，首周末成绩荣登日本票房榜冠军。根据日本媒体的数据，这部纪录片在最初上映的四天内的动员人数达到29万9391人。
　　在宣传方面，日本发行方艾回为了这部纪录片也可以说是不惜余力。在日版中充当叙述者角色的为松本幸四郎与松隆子两父女，于9月5日也上了日本天团SMAP主持的王牌综艺节目《Smap x Smap》。
　　而在电影的日版主题曲方面，音乐天团Mr.Children演唱的《苏生》同样是话题十足。
